Editor’s Tip
Spark's founder, Sebastian Alappat, believes that art is undervalued in our society and underfunded in our schools, and that it is vital to foster and cultivate creativity in children through drawing and painting.

About SPARK (Upper West Side)
SPARK is an art, yoga and meditation business based on the Upper West Side offering private and group classes for children. They provide smaller, intimate lessons with greater opportunity for individualized attention in a teaching artist's studio and gallery. Using different mediums, They aim to foster and cultivate each child's creative "spark" while teaching collaboration, confidence and community.

Art is crucial to child development. Spark believes it is vital to foster and cultivate creativity in children through art. Skills that allow for individual expression are more important than ever in our increasingly digital world. Artistic activities serve as integral building block for children.

Additionally, Spark is certified to bring yoga and meditation to kids. These practices can have dramatic effects on kids. They create mindfulness and focus within children that are rarely given the opportunity to sit still.

SPARK nurtures the imagination of children in order for it to be as limitless as the sky they create under. With no walls and no ceilings, Spark gives children the rare and incredible opportunity to create art, practice yoga and meditate outside in one of the most unique art studios and galleries in all of New York City.
