About Creative Dance with Haley Van Patten (Online)
Haley Van Patten is from Petoskey, Michigan, and grew up training at the Crooked Tree Arts Center School of Ballet. It is here where Haley became a teacher assistant for contemporary dance in 2016, teaching kids as young as 4. A year later, Haley began teaching full contemporary classes to dancers ages 12-18, and has been doing so ever since.
For two years, Haley attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, pursuing a BFA in dance. While there, she took the Creative Dance for Children teacher’s course, working with children ages 3-10.
Haley is also an active choreographer and dance videographer in the field. She presented her choreographic work at the Midwest Regional Alternative Dance Festival’s Youth Performance in 2018 and a screendance in 2020.
Most recently, Haley has been working to combine a variety of artistic mediums in her classes, allowing students to understand the connection that visual arts, music, and videography have to dance.
