About
Every student is unique and learns in different ways. We approach teaching music as an activity that should be fun, a means of expressing oneself, and a discipline that requires some practice. Our instructors are all professional musicians with a passion for teaching music, and we have cultivated a community of children and students of all ages who can share and connect through music.
Makeup policy:
Please provide 24-hour notice if you are unable to make your scheduled appointment time.
Refund policy:
Clinton Hill Music School's expectation for our students is that they complete a full semester of classes and therefore do not offer refunds. However, under extraordinary circumstances, an appeal for a refund can be requested.
Additional details:
Students need their own instruments at home as well as method books recommended by their instructor. CHMS can send recommendations about instruments (usually under $100) and our method books cost around $10.
Class policies:
For children under the age of 5, it is recommended that an adult can be present in the lessons to help the student in the lesson.

Every student is unique and learns in different ways. Having studied with so many great masters of music, movement, and pedagogy, we have gained a vast pool of knowledge and resources. Our approach to teaching is not locked into any specific method. We draw from our training and experiences to discover what inspires each student.
Editor’s Tip
