Children are introduced to the structure and discipline of a ballet class, as well as music awareness and basic ballet terminology. Pre-Ballet emphasizes creative expression through movement to music.

Dress Code Please have your child wear comfortable clothes that he or she can move in if you do not already own ballet attire. Socks may be worn if your child does not have ballet shoes. If you do wish to purchase ballet shoes for your child, please buy them at a dance store (not Target or Walmart) so that they are properly fitted. If you would like to purchase ballet attire, please adhere to the following: Girls: pink leotard (no skirt attached), pink tights, pink ballet shoes Boys: white t-shirt, black shorts/pants, black ballet shoes.
San José Dance Theatre inspires dancers of all ages in their exploration of ballet and fosters their growth through high-level training and mentoring experiences with professional dancers and instructors. The Academy’s primary focus is Classical Ballet, yet students also receive training in Contemporary Dance, Conditioning (a combination of Pilates, Yoga, strengthening and stretching), Pointe, Repertory, Pas de Deux and Ballet Education, including Ballet History, Ballet Terms, and Injury Prevention.
