Skill Development: Pre-Walking

This fun family exercise/playgroup format designed to facilitate movement for children 6-12 months targeting improved core strength, lower extremity strength, and standing balance necessary for walking. Activities will be focused on pre-walking skills including pull to stand, cruising, squat to stand, standing balance, squat to play. Class will be designed to inform families on typical* child development as well as assist in ways in which family can appropriately interact with their pre-walker while promoting improved gross motor strength.

*Please note that while courses are designed with typical child development in mind, those who may have concerns regarding their child’s development as well as those children who may struggle with movement are welcome to join class and will be included in structure.

Enjoy traditional yoga, music and movement classes, and open play at Monkey Do! Yoga in Brooklyn, which offers a variety of classes for kids of all ages and abilities. The studio boasts a wide-open space along with a backyard area for outdoor play. Monkey Do! Yoga offers yoga for babies, yoga for toddlers ages two to four, music and movement classes, and family yoga. The studio also offers post-natal resources like yoga for new moms and their babies, and a New Mom Group meetup, which helps moms to build a new community of parents. For a less structured experience, attend the studio's Open Play sessions! Monkey Do! Yoga also offers special needs classes for children with sensory sensitivities, which incorporate a mixture of games, breath work and relaxing techniques.
